It's 6 A.M. Do You Know Where YOUR Cement Truck Is?
This morning strange men, men I do not know, strangers, are walking around my house. They have parked their large noisy truck and unwound their large black hoses and are pouring what appears to be two hundred million pounds of cement into my backyard.
Oh, the insanity. Did I mention this is my first day of school today? Yeah. No stress. Breathe in. Breath out. Whooooossshh. I am a calm cool ocean. I am the forest. I am a tree. Breath in. Breath out. Breathe, Danielsan, breathe.
Before I left for work I took some "before" pictures. Here they are:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pass one semi-full work day>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Here are the pictures from when I returned home.
**later...Silas and Fiona need some attention.
**I'm back. Kids are in bed. Here's the cement, fully poured.
I have to WATER it twice a day for the next couple of days!! Ya' never knew cement had to be watered now did ya'?!

The Foundation Cometh!

Here's what you do before you pour cement...
We dig the trench. (And when I say "we" I mean "Jeff" and not me).
Then we add rebar around the inside of the trench, overlapping 2 feet.
Then we put plastic down, and on top of the plastic, sand. This is to keep the foundation from having moisture seep up into it.

Setting the Forms
We are creating a "form" for the cement. This will be the new room ("the studio"). The current studio will be replaced with some rooms that will most likely house our growing army of children. Yeeehaaaawwww!
We took pictures to show that we're doing it by the book. Pretty much. Those wiring looking things are called "rebar"...right?
